They may have had to wait for it, but come May 2016 motoring enthusiasts will have something to celebrate in the capital. The London Motor Show, due to take place in Battersea Park on the 5-8 May 2016, will showcase the latest innovations from international brands, together with an exciting range of interactive driving experiences.

The show should appeal to a diverse community, from amateur fanatics to those working professionally in the motor trade.
Those wanting to browse cutting edge technological advances will find a whole host of cars on display, from top-of-the-range high performance vehicles, executive cars and MPVs through to compact city cars.
Classic cars will get a look in too and there will be all kinds of gadgets and gizmos to peruse. Visitors wanting to go further and step into the driving seat can either take to the race track, courtesy of a short helicopter ride, or enjoy a more leisurely spin around the relaxed environs of Battersea Park.
The 2016 show comes on the heels of the British International Motor Show, last held in 2008 at the ExCeL arena in London.
That show was organised by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT), who also held the first event at Crystal Palace back in 1903.
The show then moved to Olympia and Earl’s Court, where it was held regularly except for the period during World War II, before moving to the National Exhibition Centre (NEC) in Birmingham in the 1970s.
2006 and 2008 were held at the ExCeL arena, but sadly shows planned for 2010 and 2012 had to be cancelled.
The SMMT won’t be getting involved in 2016, but nonetheless the hope is that the London Motor Show will help to ignite a true summer season of motoring events for enthusiasts and consumers.
Existing events already include the Canary Wharf Motorexpo show and the Goodwood Festival of Speed’s Moving Motor Show, both held in June, and the London Motor Show should both complement and build anticipation for these later festivals.
